What information should the packaging of cosmetic products sold in beauty centers contain?

If the cosmetic products are intended for B2B, or commercial circuits that make direct use of them in their business (eg beauty center or hairdresser), they must necessarily re-code the composition materials in accordance with Decision 129/97/EC. All other information, including those relating to separate collection, are voluntarily applicable.

If, on the other hand, the products are intended to be sold to consumers, even in the context of a commercial circuit (eg beauty center or hairdresser), being packaging intended for B2C and, pursuant to art. 219 paragraph 5, must present:

  1. The packaging material’s identification code under Decision 129/97/EC
  2. Collection guidelines. We suggest using the wording “(Material family) collection” and inviting the consumer to check their local municipal guidelines.

All other additional information is voluntarily applicable.
