There are a number of numberings in Decision 129/97/EC that are not yet associated with any material and hopefully will be in the future if the legislature updates the Annexes of Decision 129/97/EC.
At the same time, to date, these Annexes are not exhaustive for all materials, especially for plastics: in these cases, it is recommended to use the first free numbering related to the specific material, which in the case of plastics has become the number 7 by practice over time, and which can be used to identify all polymers with which no specific identification code is associated, as well as combinations of polymers that cannot be separated by simple mechanical action.
